Dryer Vent Cleaning
and Maintenance
Fargo-Moorhead residents, did you know--- Only 60% of the lint is captured in the
lint trap of residential and commercial dryers. The other 40% is vented
outside.Over time, the damp lint accumulates to the inside of the duct.
The result is like a clogged pipe that becomes more restricted over time
which can cause a fire hazard!
According to
the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA),
16,000 fires start in the laundry room each year. Also, the Consumer
Product Saftey Commission (CPSC)
estimates more than 84.4 million in property damage annually. This is a
reality that needs to be taken seriously. The State Fire Marshal
recommends that your dryer vent be cleaned or inspected once a year to
ensure your family's safety.
Here are some signs your dryer vent might
need cleaning:
-
If it takes longer than one cycle for
your clothes to dry, or the clothes are very hot after drying, this is a
good sign your vent needs cleaning.
-
If the clothes have a musty smell after
drying.
-
If your dryer shuts off or stops during
a cycle, the element may be getting too hot from the duct restriction.
-
If there is a great deal of lint
escaping from the back of the dryer.
-
If the outside vent has lint covering
the outside of the vent cover.
Here are the benefits of a clean dryer
vent:
-
Reduce laundry drying times
-
Avoid dryer element replacement costs
-
Improve the quality of dried clothes
-
Save money on utility bills
-
Prevent a dryer fire!
Our professional service uses special
equipment developed especially to remove built-up lint and debris that
can clog your dryer vents. Typical do-it-yourself methods and brushes
cannot scrub clean the inside of a dryer duct.
We use a flexible spinning cable with a
cloth brush that rotates to clean off all the lint inside your duct going
to the outside. Then, we use a powerful vacuum (4 times more powerful
than a shop-vac) to remove the lint and debris. This leaves your system
free of any obstructions that can cause problems. We can accommodate
dryer vent duct lengths of any size, from 5 feet to 30 feet or more.
Plus, we can repair or replace flexible
foil ducting with rigid or semi-rigid ducting, making your dryer more
efficient. Maintenance agreements are also available.
Dryer vent cleaning is good for these
applications:
-
Residential Homes
-
Condominiums

Below are some
photos from recent jobs we completed in the Fargo-Moorhead area.

The outside of a dryer vent, it
could not fully close due to the large amount of lint packed inside.
Also, the outside housing of the vent is caked with lint.

We are using a 40 foot flexible cable
with a spinning cloth brush to pull out all the lint in this vent. A
powerful vacuum sucks out all the lint. The 5hp spinning auger required 5
inserts to fully clean out all the lint, this took about 1 1/2 hours to
do.
The cloth brush is full of lint.

Here is the lint we sucked out, about 2
POUNDS of lint!

The camera causes a reflection on the
shiny metal surface, but you can see the duct is clean and free of any
lint obstructions. The dryer can now work at full capacity.
