Air duct cleaning: A Fargo ND case study Air duct cleaning is still a very new type of service to most homeowners in the Fargo-Moorhead area. This is why we publish before/after pictures to show you exactly what the benefits to this service can do for your home. In the example you see here, this house is well over 90 years old, near Island Park in Fargo. It is a beautiful older home, but it happens that the new owners requested to get the air ducts cleaned out. Here is what we found:
This is a return air duct that uses the rafters of the home and tin to create a space to vent the return air back to the furnace. Almost every home that has a forced air system has return air ducts. They tend to fill up with stuff because they suck the air back to the furnace, almost like a vacuum. Because of this they pull a great deal of dust and debris back into the duct. Your filter can only handle the very lightest debris, while the rest settles into your duct, just like the example here.
After using our spin-vax cleaning system, we removed a great deal of debris from this return air duct. We have removed a great deal of material that is a breeding ground for bacteria, as well as air borne allergy causing material. Not to mention a haven for spiders and other bugs. Yikes!
The material collected in the vacuum amounted to about 5 pounds from the entire duct system. Not only that, but we found 3 tennis balls and a great deal of nails and construction materials.
